Born of the realization that stigma, fear and stereotypes are the main barriers to creating awareness of and preventing the spread of HIV, The Uncle D Story Quest takes participants into a 3D world where they have the chance to experience the life of someone who lived with HIV. There they are invited into Uncle D's home and have a chance to read his journal, play with his cat, and listen to his phone messages. It is also possible to visit the school where he taught, take a tour of the health clinic where he was treated, and meet some of the residents of the town where he lived.
The Quest is full of interactive, multi-media activities designed to stimulate discussion and collaboration. Thanks to contributions from participants, it is constantly growing and evolving as well. The Quest is an ideal tool for educators and HIV/AIDS organizations seeking to raise awareness and spread the word about their products and services.
